EST Group's Double Block & Bleed Valve Solution for Long RTR Pipeline Testing


The EST Group Double Block & Bleed plug can be used to test every (glued) joint in RTR piping..

It would be devastating to find a certain percentage of joints to leak after after a long pipeline is assembled; eg for a 1.8 Kilometer line which has 200 joints (9 meter sections), the pipe laying team has to empty the enntire line fix the leaking joints and re-test. This is very time consuming. Besides that a 1.8 Kilometer line with a 200 mm inside diameter holds 56000 liters ( 56 Cubic Meters)of water before you can hydro statically test it.

RTR is a thermosetting resin that can either be epoxy or polyester reinforced, usually with fiberglass. RTR is a plastic process that cannot be reversed sort of like cooking an egg. It is not like other plastics, eg PVC,  that can be recycled and made into something else. RTR is widely used and has been around for 50 years. Its' uses include: High pressure/temperature oilfield piping, service station piping for gasoline, offshore oil exploration platforms, shipboard piping, municipal water and sewer piping and industrial chemical piping. Temperature range is from sub-zero to about plus 250 Deg F (121 Deg C). RTR Chemical resistance is also very good.
